The following are samples of the work I have done during my Master's Program with Michigan State University. These assignments often required that I reflect and re-inspect my own perspectives, motives, and how I relate and if I am of any use to the world around me. A key step to deeper learning is to experience discomfort and dissonance, and my professors have always been there to guide me through those initial learning pains to go on to achieve deep and meaningful understanding of the course materials and their applicability to the world beyond.

Children Centered Programs
The Washington Department of Corrections provides many opportunities for its employee to grow beyond our roles as rigid authority figures. I have been lucky to be able to participate as a camp counselor for the past two years in their summer camp program to provide children with incarcerated children with an experience that might otherwise be denied them because of their circumstances. The goal is not only for Department staff to positively portray and clarify our roles but also to empower the children through their connection with others who are in similar situations, and that they are part of the world around them despite stigmatization and systematic isolation. I am part of a DOC Family Services committee that centers on providing children whose parents are under community supervision with back to school events as well as interactive seasonal events. The video at the bottom of the page compiles the back to school events from 2015 and you can see me at 2:29 minutes in, and the photo below is from 2016's Kids United by Incarceration summer camp. I am in the middle of the photo, fourth from the left!
